Jimi Hendrix, arguably one of the greatest guitarists of all time, is to appear on Guitar Hero, according to his estate.
The master copies of Hendrix's 'Purple Haze', 'Foxy Lady' and 'Little Wing' are all understood to have been delivered to the video games developers, Harmonix.
It's not clear, however, which songs will appear on the new edition of the game, World Tour, which is due out in October.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Janie Hendrix said: “Guitar Hero really was on the ball and and they were biting at the bit to get this out this year, so, we just accommodated them.
“Jimi was a kid at heart — he definitely would have played these games.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Metallica will release their new album 'Death Magnetic' on the next instalment of the game.
The deal means they will become the first band to simultaneously release an album on both traditional and video game formats.
