London Mayor Boris Johnson has praised Lily Allen for speaking out against the spiralling knife crime in London.
The singer recent expressed her wishes to stage a benefit concert to rally against the violence blighting the capital.
In a recent public speech, Johnson applauded Allen and called on more high profile people to take a stance about the knife crime problem.
He said: "Tackling the horrific spate of knife crime in London is my top priority.
“I am greatly encouraged to hear that Lily Allen, who has a tremendous young fan base, is speaking out against violence and wants to do something positive."
The number of teenagers killed by knives in London has been on the increase in 2008. Last month 16-year-old Ben Kinsella - whose sister Brooke starred in Eastenders - was stabbed to death in Holloway, North London.
