Details have been announced for the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins 2008 and 20th Anniversary Tours.

According to the band's official website, the tour will see the band playing mostly smaller-sized venues and will consist of "unique sets and songs".  The first date announced is August 9th at The Venue (at Horseshoe Casino) in Hammond, Indiana.

The 20th Anniversary shows will take place in November and will see the band once again playing larger-sized venues.  Confirmed cities for the tour so far are New York, Chicago and Los Angeles with more to be announced.  The shows will see the band focusing on their history, legacy and accomplishments over their long career.

Speaking to SmashingPumpkins.com, singer Bill Corgan stated, "The August tour is going to be a blast... Expect a very loud and raucous show from us...The 20th Anniversary shows will be magical... We are already working on lots of surprises".

Additional dates and cities for the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins tour will be announced shortly.

  • The Indiana concert was weak... they didnt play the favorites and the encore was a complete bore! Urgghghghg! A waste of driving to Indiana. Hopefully they change the playlist and play songs that people want to hear.

  • Could not disagree more...the Indiana concert was great! Yeah, they didn\'t play ALL the greatest hits stuff...that\'s why it was great! If you don\'t want any variety on your Pumpkins playlist, buy the CDs and stay home so the rest of us can enjoy the live show. And the encore was great because it was the band just having fun. Absolutely worth the ticket price and I\'d do it all over again, given the chance.

  • The Indaina show was OK. The sound was not great (Echo’s and mixing/feedback problems), the floor is not stable (It’’s like a Trampoline) I thought I might die falling on the craps table below. The set list was identical to the Iowa show. Way overpriced! (The Venue is a snore)
