Rascal topped the chart ahead of US R&B star Ne-Yo, who fell one place to number two, and Basshunter – a new entry at number three with 'All I Ever Wanted'.
In the album charts, Coldplay stayed at number one with 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' for the fourth week.
In a slow week chart-wise, the biggest movers came from artists who had performed at the Glastonbury Festival last month.
Both Amy Winehouse and Neil Diamond's albums, 'Back To Black' and 'Home Before Dark', re-entered the top-ten, while Jay-Z's 2004 single '99 Problems' climbed back onto the singles countdown.
