A chatty Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy performed at the closing day of Roskilde festival in Denmark today. His set included a cover of R Kelly’s ‘World’s Greatest’, that received the Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy treatment as the song was transformed into a bespoke folk ditty.
The American musician, whose real name is Will Oldham, gave shout outs to Jay-Z and Slayer, both of whom are also playing on the final day of festival antics in Roskilde.
“I hope you enjoy Jay-Z,” Oldham said, typically tongue-in-cheek, “just remember that his penis has been inside Beyonce Knowles.”
He also expressed his delight that the weather had held out for the festival, only to find that Roskilde was struck with a severe downpour, just minutes later.
Oldham and his four man band were cheered back onto the stage by a delighted audience at the end of his performance, who booed a female compere offstage, demanding more songs from Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy.
Jay-Z headlines the final day of Roskilde Festival tonight. Stay tuned to Gigwise for reviews and news…
