Canadian fourpiece Tokyo Police Club played the longest set of their lives yesterday in a packed out tent at Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
Gigwise caught up with frontman Dave Monk after the show to ask how the band found European punters. “It was awesome,” he said of their hour long set.
“Our tent was full to the brim. We didn’t even have to win over the crowd, they were just so excited. We were just over here touring Europe a few weeks ago, and it didn’t really make sense for us to come all the way back just for one show but we really wanted to play.”
Tokyo Police Club played over twenty songs to fill the hour allotted to them at Roskilde festival, ending on a riotous rendition of ‘Cheer It On’, which left the crowd screaming for more.
Monk said that it was a pleasure to play to play in Denmark due to the quality of the audience.
“I feel like in North America crowds are a bit stale, like they’ve seen it all, and in the UK crowds are too rowdy sometimes, and you feel you might be responsible for someone sustaining an injury or something,” he explained, “where as here the crowd are enthusiastic in all the right places without being too rowdy.”
Tokyo Police Club are playing several dates on home turf before heading off on the Australian and Japanese leg of their world tour later this month.
