On the eve of the release of his second solo album, "Como Te Llama," Albert Hammond, Jr. played a private show at New York's Mercury Lounge on Tuesday night (July 1).
After beginning the show with a solo acoustic version of "Blue Skies" while perched amongst the venue wall, Hammond was joined by his full band for a energetic and solid set that was heavy on new material from the new album, and included first single "GfC."
The band was as tight as ever with blistering drumming by Matt Romano, guitar work by Marc Philippe Eskenasi and Hammarsing Kharhmar, and bassist Reno Bo.
In attendance at the overflowing venue were a slew of Hammond friends, including Nick Zinner, Adam Green, James Iha, Kirsten Dunst, and his girlfriend Agyness Deyn.
Hammond plays a free album release show at Virgin Megasore (Union Square) on July 8th, followed by a show in Los Angeles on July 11th at Spaceland.
"Como Te Llama" hits stores July 8th on Black Seal Records.
