Michael Eavis Won't Say Whether A Hip-Hop Act Will Headline Glastonbury 2009 Add to My Fav Bands List

Michael Eavis says he won't be drawn on the possibility of a hip-hop act headlining the 2009 edition of the Glastonbury Festival.

Despite acknowledging that the 2008 event had proved doubters wrong by asking US rapper Jay-Z to headline, he refused to speculate whether it could happen again next year.

“I'm not saying that,” Mr Eavis told reporters at a press conference over the weekend.

“We've done it now and we pulled it off. Especially with all the doom and gloom about what it was going to be like and us not selling tickets,” he added.

The event's organiser also admitted that the festival has now found its “safety zone” following years of bad weather.

Mr Eavis said that there had been a “danger of losing” the festival in Somerset after the 2007 edition was plagued by torrential rain and storms.

  • Jay Z was absolutely fantastic - great choice by the Eavis’. Whether an hip hop act should headline 2009 is irrelevant...Glastonbury gets amazing MUSIC artists to perform on it’’s stages. Who cares if it’’s not strictly guitar-based?! Noel Gallagher looks like a fool now.
