An unusually cheerful Laura Marling played an astoundingly good set to an adoring crowd on the Park Stage at Glastonbury this afternoon.
The young star pulled in a huge audience that danced jubilantly in the sunshine, threw inflatables and blew bubbles throughout the performance.
Marling looked typically low-key, dressed in black jeans and a black coat, but she couldn’t help but smile when faced with such a supportive crowd.
Opener ‘Ghosts’ immediately descended into a sing-a-long, though there were moments when onlookers were hushed by the young singer’s incredible vocals.
She also performed some new tracks that confirm her as one of the best young songwriters of today.
‘Alas I Cannot Swim’, the title track from Marling’s recent album, closed the set.
However, she was forced to stop mid-track to duck as the yellow rubber ring that had been tossed around the crowd during the set was aimed directly at her – perhaps one fan’s answer to her swimming dilemma.
