A huge crowd of all ages gathered in front of Glastonbury’s famous pyramid stage last night to see Amy Winehouse perform, which culminated in her punching a fan in the front row.
The troubled singer, who is suffering from emphysema and suspected lung disease, looked frail and distinctly orange-tinged as she took to the stage, teetering on heels in a tiny black sequinned dress.
She is being constantly monitored by two doctors, and was only allowed out of hospital to rehearse and perform following her collapse two weeks ago.
The ensuing performance was a good indication as to her state of health. While favourites ‘Back to Black’ and ‘Rehab’ were executed adequately, Winehouse’s disappointing stage act was largely incomprehensible.
The singer stumbled and slurred, taking time between songs to ramble about the impending release of husband Blake from prison, which garnered jeering from the audience.
At one point Winehouse came down from the stage and attacked a front row onlooker, throwing several punches before the bouncers gently guided her away. Rumour has in that a waiting ambulance whisked the singer straight back to hospital after her set.
Many of the crowd expressed their disappointment after the show, with several confessing they attended the set “just in case it is the last time Amy ever plays live.”

- Were you even there? What were you on? Orange-tinged? It is called stage lighting. Executed adequately. How kind. You base this judgement on your vast expertise or just envy? Winehouse came down to sing the finale close to the crowd. You make it sound like she dove off the stage. A punch. Bouncers seperated THEM. Rumour has it? Really? She was backstage while JayZ sang. Again, were you there? Many expressed disappointment. Many more enjoyed themselves just as many more cheered THAN jeered.

- she was a big disappointment. Her ego has got the better of her and she can’t handle it. Boring to watch, won’’t waste my time again. Blake, oh blake, who cares apart from her???

- Michael, her set was terrible and everyone there should have been able to see she was not in a fit state of health to be performing. It was like watching a car crash with a crippling drug addiction. The general consensus was that people had actually just gone to watch her because it might well be the last time she will perform live.

- I saw her last year at Glastonbury and her performance has nose-doved significantly.

- she was a mess. i was there and that is all there is to it. anyone on the bill, let alone near the top with aspirations to headline, needs to be at the top of their game. yet she barely had any idea what the game was. she struggled with her words, she struggled to sing, she struggled to coax the audience. she and her management should be ashamed when this is compared to sets by the Verve, CSS, and even old legends like Young and Cohen who showed exactly what star quality is really made of...
