Annie Reveals Franz Ferdinand Collaboration
Annie has defended the right for pop artists to play at Glastonbury and other festivals.
The up-and-coming singer explained the likes of Girls Aloud have given chart acts the breakthrough they need to mix it with traditional rock heavyweights at the events.
“I write pop songs, but there’s a place for that here,” she told Gigwise in the Orange Tent. “Girls Aloud, The Sugababes, they have done it and shown there is no need to stick people into categories.
“I have Franz Ferdinand playing on my album; there is definitely room for more crossovers.”
She also had dietary advice for festival-goers, stating that “pancakes are the way to go in the morning” in reference to a track she has written about breakfast.
Not exactly ground-breaking then, but Annie claims people need some light pop relief at Glasto. “It’s weird playing to people who don’t know my stuff,” she admitted. “But I’ll give them something to dance to, with no stress and no worries.”
Gigwise has all the Glastonbury news you need so keep checking back.
