King of Leon closed the first day of the Glastonbury Festival last night (June 27th) with a defiant performance on the Pyramid Stage.
The band, whose booking at the event had been greeted by a mixed reception, proved any doubters wrong as they delivered a memorable set that drew songs from their three albums.
Caleb Followill, the band’s frontman, appeared emotional throughout much of the performance, praising fans for helping the band to climb the ranks at the festival.
"We've worked all the way up to where we are now so here's to you guys. Thank you very much for letting us do this,” he said.
Last night also saw performances from Pete Doherty, Franz Ferdinand and Editors.
