The Paddingtons Ask Fans To Name Record Label
The Paddingtons could be on the verge of playing the most sets of any band at Glastonbury, with three planned for today alone.
Guirarist Josh Hubbard took time out to chat to Gigwise in the Orange Chill n' Charge area and revealed the band have their own record label – but need a name.
"We got dropped, legal problems and stuff. But we’re back now, putting our new album ourselves,” he said.
“We’re trying to think of a name for it, so far the best is ‘Tyrannosaurus Records’, but send us your suggestions, answers on a postcard.”
The band have taken a more Americana direction, but Josh promises they haven’t changed completely.
“It still sounds like The Paddingtons, but just better,” he laughs. “We know how to play our instruments now.”
They are fully embracing the Glastonbury experience, getting muddy with the crowds and even braving the public toilets.
“I use the normal toilets, there’s no point staying hidden away in VIP, I just get amongst it.
“We’ve been locked up for ages in a tiny studio, going insane, but we’ve got that gang mentality because of it. So now all we’re seeing is green fields.”
Josh is most excited about seeing the Cribs, claiming their Park Stage headlining set will involve “Vaseline, unicorns, spandex” but also admitted to having a soft spot for Leonard Cohen.
“It’s been a long time, I’m celebrating being back, but I might go see Cohen and have a cry.”
Stay tuned to Gigwise for all the latest from the festival.
