After a week of dry weather the heavens opened on the Glastonbury Festival site last night (June 26th) – just hours before the festival officially gets under way.
In the build up, forecasters had predicted that the event would be the driest for years and that there was only a potential for light showers.
But last night's rain has already forced people to put on the festivals trademark accessory – wellies.
Heavy rain is forecast once again for today - which will get underway with a performance from Kate Nash.
As previously reported on Gigwise, festivalgoers trying to get to Worthy Farm in Somerset experienced delays of up to five hours yesterday because of a fire at a nearby scrap metal works.
The fire caused one of the event's main access roads, the A37, to be shut.
Stay tuned to Gigwise over the course of the weekend for all the latest news, pictures and interviews from this years festival.
