Police are understood to be investigating after a concert, which was due to be headlined by US rapper Lil Wayne, never to take place.
Hundreds of fans were apparently left disappointed when the rapper failed to appear at a club in Alabama last Saturday (June 21st).
The owner of the venue, Esa Jones, has been quoted as saying that the concert was part of a scam by a phony gig promoter.
"We got scammed real bad. It looked planned, they printed tickets, had radio advertisements, ticket locations, it looks so legit,” she said.
The supposed promoter, Tony Lee, apparently claimed that he was from Coastal Boy Entertainment.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Lil Wayne topped the US album charts two weeks ago with his latest album 'Tha Carter III', which sold over 1 million copies in the opening week.
