US rapper Lil' Wayne has sold over one million copies of his new album 'Tha Carter III' in a week, it's been confirmed.
The rapper's sixth album has become the first record since 2005 to sell more than a million copies in a week.
Fellow rapper 50 Cent was the last artist to achieve the million milestone. In 2005, 'The Massacre' sold 1.1million copies in just seven days.
As previously reported on Gigwise, ‘Tha Charter III’ sold 423,000 copies on its opening day of release last Tuesday (June 10th).
The most recent album to come close to the magic million was ‘Graduation’ by Kanye West, which eventually sold 975,000 copies in its first week.
Lil' Wayne already holds the Singles number one spot in America with 'Lollipop', which has proven untouchable for the last five weeks.
