  • Kaiser Chiefs have delayed the release of their third album in order to avoid a potential chart battle with Oasis and Keane, it's been reported.

All three bands are scheduled to release their as-yet-untitled new records in October.

Although release dates are yet to be confirmed, it's been claimed that Kaiser Chiefs will release their new album after Oasis but before Keane to ensure that it has a chance of clinching the top spot.

Kaiser Chiefs are working with producer Mark Ronson on the album and have already confirmed that Lily Allen has recorded vocals for one song.

"October is shaping up to be a month of big releases. Not only are the Kaisers and Oasis scheduling new albums for that month, but Keane are too,” a source told the Sun newspaper.

"It’s going to be a titanic struggle at the top of the charts and the Kaisers want to get to Number one.

"They think the best way of ensuring that does happen is to release after Oasis and before Keane."

Kaiser Chiefs decision comes less than a month after frontman Ricky Wilson claimed that his band were the natural successors to Oasis.

As Gigwise reported earlier, Oasis have today announced three new tour dates. Click here for information.

    • Keane - 50%! Dear lord people. Are you kidding on? Oasis, could release 13 tracks of Liam Gallagher farting that would sound better than those wee wet blankets. And if the Kaiers are natural successors to Oasis then i think i’ll be getting myself into some Death Metal or something cos the future of British rock is bleak!

    • What d’ya mean ’’dear lord?’’ Keane are better than those old Oasis farts are ever gonna be. Just cos they make good music, they’’re bed wetters? They can probably write a better melody than Oasis ever will in a million years. Keane’’s new album’’s gonnna be amazing from what it seems like.
