Average Youngster Has '900 Illegal Songs On Their MP3 Player'

The average youngster has almost 900 illegally obtained songs on their MP3 player, a new study has found.

The British Music Rights publishing group says that young people are getting upwards of half of their music collection via illegal means.

The Study, which surveyed 1,100 people between the age of 14 and 24, found that the average youngster's MP3 player has 1,770 tracks on, of which half haven't been paid for.

Nearly everyone questioned (95%) had copied music in some way, with 58% of people admitting to copying music from a friends' hard drive.

The survey highlighted what the BRM called a dramatic change in the way that music was consumed by young people.
