In the aftermath of Lethal Bizzle being bottled at Download on Sunday, Chuck Corneau from Simple Plan spoke to Gigwise to voice his opinion on the trend for bottling bands at festivals.
Bizzle was playing on the Turborg Stage on Sunday when he was struck several times with plastic bottles from several crowd members.
At one point the UK grime star grabbed a glass vodka bottle out of his pocket and jokingly threatened the crowd with it.
Simple Plan were bottled at a festival in Ontario back in 2005. Lead singer, Pierre Bouvier was taken to hospital with a gash in his face after a glass bottle was flung at his face.
Corneau told Gigwise: “I’ve never really understood the whole idea of throwing things at other people. It’s just kind of retarded.
“We had to cancel Reading and Leeds in 2005 because Pierre got pretty hurt. I think it’s the only time we stopped playing. Usually you just keep playing louder. If you really don’t like a band, just go see somebody else. It’s a festival there are five other stages going on.”
Chuck joked that the band were thinking of donning hockey masks for their set at the metal festival
“We’re a band that people either love or hate,” he added.
