Chuck Berry has publicly endorsed the presidential campaign of Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
Berry said that America had finally reached a stage where people can vote for “a man of colour and that not be a drawback."
The veteran musician made his political stance clear after Obama's rival, Republican John McCain, chose Berry's 'Johnny B Goode' as one of his campaign songs.
Speaking to the Independent, Berry said: "In the Fifties there were certain places we couldn't ride on the bus, and now there is a possibility of a black man being in the White House.
“It's no question, myself being a man of colour. I mean, you have to feel good about it."
Berry is the latest artist to endorse Obama, who will contest the election with John McCain at the polls in November.
