Organisers Defend Decision To Sell Glastonbury Tickets On The High Street

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has defended the festivals decision to sell the remaining tickets for this years event at outlets of HMV.

Yesterday (June 9th), it was announced that from Wednesday (June 11th) fans will be able to purchase tickets in seven cities, including London, Cardiff and Manchester.

But the decision angered people who had already purchased tickets via the registration system, which was designed to prevent the on-sale of tickets via touts.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Eavis defended the move, saying that the same polices will remain.

“People have to provide ID and they have to provide ID on the gate as well." she said. "Our anti-touting policy is still in place."

Slow tickets for the this years festival, which runs from June 27th-29th, have been blamed by many on the festivals decision to have US rapper Jay-Z headline the Pyramid stage.

However, Eavis singled out the bad weather that has plagued recent editions of the festival.

"It's almost certainly down to bad weather," she said. "We've had three years of quite heavy conditions and people are kind of making their minds up according to the weather I think."
