US rapper P Diddy has described Barack Obama’s nomination as the Democrat Party’s candidate for the American presidency as “one of the greatest and proudest moments” of his life.
Obama declared himself victorious over his main rival Hillary Clinton on Tuesday (June 3rd) after securing an insurmountable number of delegates.
The Illinois senator will now go head-to-head with Republican John McCain in November’s general elections.
Speaking to MTV, P Diddy, whose real name is Sean Coombs, said Obama’s win was “history in the making” and “proof that we (Americans) do live in the greatest country in the world.”
Clinton will formally withdraw from the race on Saturday and express her support for Obama, who is battling to become the country’s first black president.
Obama has already established a team of people who will help select his running mate in the presidential contest, with many commentators expecting him to install Clinton in the position.

- I totally agree. This moment in our history definantly ranks among one of the U.S. most progressive moments. This shows that we are moving closer to being one country, and a step away from a country divided.

View 2 Replies- Great. Darn shame I won’t be voting for him.

View 2 Replies- For americans on a whole to not recognise the magnanimity of this move says a lot about them whether for or aganist obama. I sincerely believe that he has accomplished what no one thought was possible except the comedians when they did skits about its improbability. He has turn american right side up and will continue to demonstratte that the colour of a man’s skin should be of no more significance than the coulour of his eyes.
