Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke wants Prince to unblock his cover of the band’s song ‘Creep’ on the video-sharing website YouTube.
Currently, all videos of Prince’s rendition of the song, which he performed at the Coachella Festival in Los Angeles last month, were removed after his record label, NPG, claimed they violated copyright laws.
However, the videos posted were filmed by fans and the song isn’t by Prince.
Yorke, who recently called the cover “hilarious”, was surprised to hear that the song had been blocked.
"Really? He's blocked it? Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment." Yorke said. "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our ... song."
In most cases, under YouTube regulations, if the website receives a complaint about a video it will take it down, reports the Associated Press.
Despite calls from fans, Prince and his affiliate companies have continued to operate strict guidelines about the singer’s material.
Last year, reports claimed that the signer had even threatened legal action against his own fans over the use of his material.
What do you think about the block? Should Prince be allowed to block someone else’s song? Let us know by posting a comment below...
