Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has revealed that he knew Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler was having problems before he apparently admitted himself into rehab last week.
Speaking to the Sun newspaper, Sambora said: “I don’t think I’m the best person to give Steve advice, Steve is a big boy and he’s been through that drill quite a few times."
Tyler was reported to have sought treatment for an unspecified substance abuse problem at Aurora Las Encinas Hospital in Los Angeles last week.
The singer, who has advocated sobriety for two decades, recently played a charity concert in Hollywood for an organisation that helps addicts in the music industry.
Sambora said that he knew Tyler "was having some problems and was on pain medication”, although he didn’t speculate what the reason behind the singer's treatment was.
Bon Jovi have just embarked on the European leg of their 2008 world tour.
