US rapper’s Kanye West and Method Man have been sued by the daughter of a US jazz musician who claims they used her father’s music without permission.
Redman, Common and various record companies owned by the Universal Music Group are also named in the lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in New York.
In the lawsuit, Kathleen Firrantello alleges that the rapper’s used Joe Farrell’s 1974 hit ‘Upon This Rock’ in three separate songs – West in ‘Gone’, Method Man and Redman in ‘Run 4 Cover’ and Common in ‘Chi-City’.
According to the Reuters news agency, Firrantello is seeking at least $1million worth of damages.
She also wants no further copies of the song the be sold, made or performed live by the hip-hop stars.
