Illinois senator Barack Obama held the biggest rally of his campaign to become the democratic candidate in this autumns presidential elections earlier this week.
Obama’s rally in Portland’s Waterfront Park on Sunday (May 18th) drew crowds of 75,000, over twice the size of his previous audience record.
The rally was in collaboration with The Decemberists, who have long been outspoken supporters of Obama’s campaign.
Conservative publications in America have tried to play down the audience attendance - claiming that the Decemberists were responsible for attracting such huge numbers.
However, it’s unlikely that the band, who usually inhabit much smaller venues, could attract such huge numbers.
Obama, whose campaign has also received support from Arcade Fire, is now almost assured of beating Hillary Clinton in the race to become the Democrat’s presidential candidate.
