Radiohead 'In Rainbows' Wins Ivor Novello Award For Best Album

Radiohead’s pioneering album ‘In Rainbows’ has won Best Album at this years Ivor Novello award.

The band beat Stephen Fretwell’s ‘Man On The Roof’ and ‘Thirst For Romance’ by Simon Aldred to take the prestigious award.

‘In Rainbows’ was originally released last October as a download via the bands website. In a music industry first, the band allowed people to name what price they paid for the record.

When it was officially released at the end of 2007 the album went on to top the charts in the United Kingdom and America.

The other big winner at the awards ceremony in London this afternoon was Amy Winehouse, who picked up an award for ‘Love Is A Losing Game’.

Her father, Mitch, accepted the prize on behalf of his daughter, saying her manager should be awarded the music equivalent of the Victoria Cross.
