Broadcaster Terry Wogan fears that the British public will lose interest in Eurovision if this year’s entry, Andy Abrahams, flops.
Abrahams, who was selected by a public vote, is the least favoured British entry of all time – attracting odds of 66-1 with bookmakers.
Despite revealing that he felt Abrahams was “the best UK entry for a while”, Wogan said he was concerned that “disenchantment might take hold”.
“Eurovision is such silly fun, and I love doing it, but if the enthusiasm isn't there...” Wogan told the Radio Times.
"This year is pretty crucial for me. Eurovision without Royaume-Uni would be unfortunate.”
This year’s Eurovision song contest will take place in Belgrade on Saturday (May 25th).
