Sir Elton John has been unveiled as a surprise special guest at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebrations in London next month.
The concert, which is being held to raise awareness for Mr Mandela’s 46664 Aids campaign, will feature Queen, Razorlight and Leona Lewis.
It’s understood that Sir Elton wanted his involvement in the concert to be kept secret because he didn’t want the event to clash with his own Aids Foundation.
However, speaking to the Sun newspaper, an organiser said that the singer will perform a few songs at the event.
“He will then duet with a younger artist,” the unnamed source added. “This hasn’t been confirmed yet however we believe it will be Duffy or Eminem.”
Tickets for the concert, which will take place in Hyde Park on June 27th, are only available via a ballot.
