Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek has revealed that the band live with the constant fear that singer Pete Doherty might relapse.
"It is always a concern it will happen again,” Ficek said, on the eve of the band’s show in London last night (May 13th).
Doherty was freed early from prison last week just 29 days into a 14-week sentence for probation violation.
Speaking yesterday, the singer denied tabloid reports he had taken drugs in prison but admitted that he had cheated on a drugs test shortly before being incarcerated.
“In his mind he always wants to stay focused and clean and free from all those problems but as anyone knows who has dealings with anyone who has addiction problems, it is sincere when they say that but there are times when they are going to fall,” Ficek told the BBC.
"Unfortunately Peter is in the position where wherever he does fall people are in the position to take a photo or have a kick at him when he's on the floor.
"But his pledge is always to remain on the straight and narrow. It is up to us and the people around him to try and maintain that integrity and keep him on that good path."
Babyshambles show at the Forum in London last night has been greeted by a mixed reception by fans.
