Sir Paul McCartney has finally shaken off the dead weight that is Heather Mills after a High Court judge officially declared their marriage over yesterday.
A private hearing was held at the London Court lasting just 30 seconds. Mr Justice Hugh Bennett, who also presided over their lengthy divorce proceedings, declared a decree nisi meaning that the divorce is absolute.
The uncontested ruling, based on the fact that the pair have been living separately for two years, means that Mills or McCartney are free to marry again in six weeks time should they so wish.
McCartney of course paid out a hefty $24million to the much-loathed Mills after a bitter divorce hearing. Mills was labelled a “scheming fantasist” in court at the time.
