Miley Cyrus used her appearance at Wango Tango in California last weekend to thank fans for their continued support.
Recent pictures of the teenager wrapped in a bed sheet with her back exposed, published in Vanity Fair, caused uproar throughout the US media.
Although she didn’t reference the incident, Cyrus told the crowd that “we’re all changing”.
“I thank you for helping me as I grow through that,” she added.
Despite the widespread criticism around the pictures, which were captured by Annie Leibovitz, a number of musicians have come out in support of the star.
Last week, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, a close friend of the actress, said that “she'll come out of all this strong.”
Madonna also voiced her support, saying that she didn’t see what the “big deal” was with the photos and that “everyone should just leave her alone”.
In a statement, Disney said they felt that their star had been exploited by the images.
