A US district Judge has reversed an original ruling and reinstated a wrongful-death lawsuit filled by the family of the late US rapper Notorious B.I.G.
Judge Florence-Marie Cooper originally dismissed the case in March because the rapper’s relatives had missed a state deadline.
However, the family appealed the decision when the case was moved from the Los Angeles Superior Court to the Federal court.
According to court papers obtained by the Associated Press yesterday (May 8th), Judge Cooper overturned her original decision after it was discovered that federal claims in the case could proceed.
Notorious B.I.G, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, was shot dead in Los Angeles in March 1997.
Relatives of the rapper, including Wallace’s mother and two children, claim that police covered up his death.
A film about Wallace’s life is currently in production and scheduled for release next January.
Speaking yesterday about the project, entitled Notorious, fellow rapper P Diddy said it was “eerie” how realistic the film was.
