Def Leppard: 'Alex Turner Is Not The New Bob Dylan'

But he could be...

Def Leppard have refused to join other musicians in hailing Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner as the new Bob Dylan.

“Alex Turner is a great writer. He is a poet. Hailing him as the new Dylan though, that's a little far-fetched,” the veteran band’s singer Joe Elliot said.

Speaking to the BBC, Elliot said he would wait ten years before judging just how good Turner and the band can become.

"They've joined the ranks of us, the Human League, Joe Cocker and Dave Berry as Sheffield's musical exports. Woo-hoo!”

Def Leppard are currently promoting their new album, ‘Songs From The Sparkle Lounge’, which is expected to go top five this weekend.

The band will hit the road across the UK in support of the new album this summer and tickets are on sale through Gigwise.

      • Who the hell has said he’s the new Bob Dylan, and how the hell is he anything like Bob Dylan? Because he writes songs and plays guitar and his lyrics are quite good? So are Brendan Benson’s, Josh Homme’s, Thom Yorke’s and even Axl Bloody Rose’s are all those guys the new Bob Dylan? Ricockulous.
