US R&B star R Kelly is due to appear in court today (May 9th) over child pornography charges which stem from an arrest six years ago.
Kelly was arrested in February 2002 after a video, which prosecutors claim shows him having sex with an underage girl, was sent to the Chicago Sun Times.
The singer was charged in June that year with 21 counts relating to child pornography charges, seven of which have since been dropped.
Kelly, who denies the charges, could face up to 15 years in jail if he is convicted.
The prosecution's previous attempts to bring Kelly to trial have been effected by the refusal of the alleged victim to admit that she is the girl in the video, reports the BBC.
Earlier this week Kelly’s defence team asked for the latest hearing to be postponed, claiming that media coverage would prevent their client receiving a fair trail.
Chicago Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan has yet to rule on the request.
