American country music star Eddy Arnold has died this morning at the age of 89.
Arnold’s health had been deteriorating in recent months following the death of his wife of 66-years, Sally, in March. In the very same month he fell over outside his home badly injuring his hip.
He passed away at an assisted living center in Nashville in the early hours of today. He was just seven days short of his 90th birthday.
Also known as the Tennessee Plowboy, the much-loved star is one of the best selling country singers of all time, notching up 28 number ones on the US Country Chart.
He’s best remember for hits like ‘Make The World Go Away’, ‘Turn The World Around’, ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘I Really Don’t Want To Know.’
He released his 100th album, ‘After All This Time’, in 2005.
