Scissor Sisters were the big winners at the 2005 Brit Awards, winning in all three categories that they were nominated for. The band from New York was crowned International Breakthrough Act of the year, as well as Best International Album and Group.
Franz Ferdinand and Keane took home two awards each, the Scots getting Best British Rock Act and Group, while the soft-rock trio were awarded British Breakthrough Act of the year and Album Of The Year for the mega-selling ‘Hopes And Fears’.
In perhaps the worst awards decision in history, loveable tosser Robbie Williams won the award for best song of the last 25 years, for the mind-numbing ballad ‘Angels’.
This year’s Outstanding Contribution To Music award went to Sir Bob Geldof – who was born in Dublin. Go figure.
