Neil Young To Hook Up With Sun Microsystems?

Neil Young may be about to go back on his word and mix the world of endorsements and music for the release of his new album.

Young is well known for his resentment of artists who put their names to products and famously sung about it on the track ‘This Notes For You’.

However, on Tuesday Young and Sun Microsystems are expected to make an announcement about a link up for the release of the album ‘Toast’.

According to Undercover, Young has been announced as the keynote speaker at a conference for Sun Microsystems executives next week.

A statement reads: "Neil Young and Sun will make an announcement during the event, and provide a special demonstration of a new multi-media music project. Come hear and see what Java technology means to Neil Young."

We wonder what they are up to...

    • Seriously, don’t they all. Neil Young is my favorite artist by far, but I have no illusions that his transitions as a musician over the decades have been driven as much by a desire to sell albums as to express himself artistically. The music industry is dwarfed today by other forms of multimedia fathered by technology companies like Sun, so why not ride that bandwagon any way he can to get to new audiences.

    • Please cite a source for the statement ”Young and Sun Microsystems are expected to make an announcement about a link up for the release of the album ‘Toast’.” I have seen NO mention anywhere of Toast being involved in this announcement.

    • I see where Toast was mentioned on the Undercover site, but it was a pure speculation by the author of that article. It mentions it as a question -- not as an ”expected link-up”. Stating it as ”expected” is a fabrication.
