Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell has revealed that his side-project, Helsinki, are four songs into the recording of their debut album.
McConnell, who played with the band most recently at last Sunday’s Love Music Hate Racism carnival, said he had been in studio with Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.
“If when it’s done and I think it sounds good enough, then maybe I’ll have a chat to the people at Parlophone and see if they can be bothered to put it out,” McConnell told BBC 6 Music.
The bassist described the bands sound as “slightly cloudy,” adding: “Y’know, the sun peeks its furrowed brow though some of the gaps in the clouds here or there.”
According to reports in today’s Sun newspaper, Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty is expected to released early from prison next week.
The singer was sentenced to 14 weeks in jail last month for breaking conditions in his probation order and using drugs.
