Keane have denied reports that they are scheduled to appear at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday party in London this summer.
In a statement, the group said they feel “a responsibility to Keane fans to state that the band were never confirmed for the gig and will not be playing at the event.”
Mr Mandela’s concert will take place in Hyde Park on June 27th.
Other acts reported to be playing at the event include Leona Lewis, Queen and Razorlight.
US rapper Eminem is also understood to be plotting his comeback with a special performance at the concert.
Tickets for the birthday celebrations will be available via ballot only for fans who have pre-registered.
