Grand Theft Auto IV Features 'Biggest Videogame Soundtrack Ever'

Grand Theft Auto IV, one of the most anticipated videogame release of all time, set a new record upon its worldwide release today (April 29th).

The new instalment of the action packed thriller features the biggest videogame soundtrack of all time with over 200 songs.

As with previous editions, music features prominently in the new game, with gamers being able to scroll through pre-programmed radio stations as they drive around Liberty City.

Music supervisor for Rockstar Games, the computer giant behind the franchise, said the company had spent almost two years compiling songs for the game.

"We've really paid attention to what goes on in New York City and I think we really captured the music of the entire city, from different ethnic and social groups to different tastes of music," Ivan Pavlovich told Reuters.

Pavlovich explained that the company had gone as far as to speak to DJs in New York for advice on what songs to select for the title.

According to reports, Rockstar is paying as much as $5,000 per composition for use on the game.

In a first for the gaming industry, gamers will also be able to tag songs as they hear them on the game to purchase later via Amazon.
