Gordon Brown To Continue With Plans To Toughen Cannabis Laws

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is to continue with plans to toughen up cannabis laws in the United Kingdom. 

In an interview with GMTV this morning, Mr Brown said he had “always been worried” about the drug and that the Government “have got to send a message”.

Mr Brown was speaking following a report issued yesterday from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) which said that Cannabis should remain a “soft” drug.

Whitehall sources have indicated that Mr Brown is determined to reclassify the drug from a Class C to a Class B status. 

“I don't think that the previous studies took into account that so much of the cannabis on the streets is now of a lethal quality and we really have got to send out a message to young people - this is not acceptable,” Mr Brown said this morning.

Although the Prime Minister said that he would look through the new report, he said that people already knew his stance on the drug "and particularly about this lethal version of it.”

Over recent weeks a number of experts from the Police force, doctors and judges have said that cannabis should remain a Class C drug.

The Government are expected to officially respond to the report next week at the earliest.

  • regulate it and free us all ,then everyone is happy ,mental health or confusion, more like bullsht ,maybe the 50m rehab budget cut needs a good old fashion prohibition scapegoat as cannabis and all DRUGS are tar’d with the same brush Nixon used in the US, all that done was isolate communities you don’t see gangs in Amsterdam, step down brown you clown!!!!!!
