Thom Yorke and Ed O’Brien from Radiohead have both professed their love for Portishead’s first record in 11 years, ‘Third.’
Both the band members agree that it’s Portishead’s finest effort to date, with Yorke in particular getting excited about it.
He enthused: “It’s dark as man. Definitely their best record, there’s no doubt about that.
“My favourite one is a song called The Rip and then there’s one at the end which sounds exactly like that old 70’s band Silver Apples - just mental.”
In the interview with BBC6music, Ed O’Brien continued: “It’s so beautiful; it’s so beautiful in parts. I have to say I actually thinking it’s my favourite Portishead record.
“The first track (‘Silence’) is immense….there’s a Brazilian thing going on in there and it’s just incredible.”
