Malawian Father Claims Madonna Has 'Robbed His Son'

He regrets adoption...

The father of Malawian child, David Banda, who was adopted by Madonna has accused the pop star of preventing him from seeing his son.

Yohane Banda, 33, says that he has not been allowed access to the child since the adoption process began two years ago.

Speaking to the Times newspaper, Mr Banda says that he feels “robbed” and that he regrets ever putting the child up for adoption.

“I should be able to see my son and say hello,” Mr Banda said.

“I don’t know how he is growing, what person he is turning into. This pains me because it looks like he is not my son any more.”

The drawn out adoption process is expected to come to an end in Malawi next month, with Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie set to be given full adoption rights.

Until now, Madonna, who has been accused of using her celebrity status to fast track the process, has only had temporary custody of the child.

Mr Banda added that Madonna had “promised” the he would be able to see his son and that the Malawian Government would “facilitate” his meetings.

It’s not clear whether Mr Banda’s claims will be taken into consideration at next months hearing.

  • The whole point of adoption is that the child is legally relieved from the care of one person (the biological parent) and placed into that of another. There’s no legal entitlement for the biological parent to have any access to the child, as they are the ones ’getting rid’ of the kid in the first place. Did nobody explain this basic definition of adoption to Mr Banda two years ago?

  • Oh for Gods sake this man just wants Money from Madonna only a complete fool would think otherwise. He dumped the kid and never looked back until he found out Madonna was worth a fortune. Madonna has no obilgation to fly this child back and forth to see this man- no adoptive parent is asked to do this, Madonna even offered to help this man keep the child and help him support him and he DECLINED, now he wanst to extort money from her its clear cut.

  • I predict more media articles will come about like this one, so’s Madge can give the boy back to the dad without it looking like SHE doesn’t want the boy attall.
