Just as Stuart Sutcliffe is widely accepted by many as the fifth member of The Beatles, Idle Lovers’ debut single lends weight to the eyebrow raising conspiracy theory that Elvis Costello was in fact the fifth member of The Libertines… quite. ‘Big Impression’ parades the four-pieces mix of immediately infectious snappy indie pop through the streets of Hackney but barely much further. While their sound is nothing new or special, it’s a commendably effortless foot-tapper and a valiantly above average debut from yet another guitar drenched London indie band.
Released 21/04/08 on Pop Grooves.
