Sir Paul McCartney has told people to think seriously about becoming a vegetarian in order to control global warming.
The former Beatle, who is a longtime vegetarian, said that the meat industry was one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
“I would urge everyone to think about taking this simple step to help our precious environment and save it for the children of the future,” he said, in an interview with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
In the interview, which has been released through Reuters, McCartney said he found it “surprising that most major environmental organizations” aren’t advertising the option of going vegetarian.
A report by the United Nations in 2006 found that cattle rearing creates more greenhouse gases than transportation.
What do you think about McCartney's comments? Would you become a vegetarian to help stop climate change? Let us know...
