Pete Doherty has been moved to a high security segregation unit inside Wormwood Scrubs prison amid fears of a conspiracy to attack him.
Officers moved Doherty into the secure unit, which he shares with just 15 other inmates, on Thursday (April 18th).
The Babyshambles frontman was sentenced to 14 weeks in jail last week for breaching the terms of his probation order and using drugs.
According to Sky News, Doherty was strip-searched by four prison guards before he was allowed to enter the unit following tabloid reports that he had been taking heroin.
"He was quiet. He was calm. But he did seem pale - like Casper the Ghost," a prison source told the News agency.
"Pete is in the segregation unit for his own safety, and partly because he asked for the move himself."
Doherty was forced to postpone a solo-show at the Royal Albert Hall later this month because of his incarceration.
In a statement release through his record label, EMI, the singer apologised to fans.
