Pictures of Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty in prison have been published amid allegations that the singer is taking heroin in jail.
The photographs, obtained by the Sun newspaper, appear to show Doherty sitting in his prison cell and talking to cellmates on his prison wing.
The paper claims that the singer, who is serving a 14-week sentence for breaking a probation order, is taking heroin in jail alongside the heroin substitute methadone.
According to the Sun, Doherty has had access to smuggled drugs during his time at Wormwood Scrubs - although none of the paper’s pictures show any evidence of drug use.
A spokesperson for the Prison Service told the paper: “We will act on any intelligence which indicates drugs are being smuggled or abused.”
Doherty was forced to postpone an upcoming solo-show at the Royal Albert Hall after he was sentenced to prison during an appearance at West London Magistrates Court last week.
In a statement released through his record company EMI, the singer apologised to fans for having to postpone the performance.

- Someone taking drugs in prison? Never!!

- Sun ’journalists’ behaving like low life scummy cunts - I can’t believe it!

- So the Sun has paid an inmate for pictures of him? More high-brow, ethical journalism from those scumbags. If it’s true that he’s taking drugs, then it’s exactly the reason he shouldn’t be there. It’s happened before when he was there last time, so put him back inside, when he’ll feel depressed and reach for the only thing that gives him comfort in there. Get him, and any others that are in for drug abuse, out of jail.
