US rapper Lupe Fiasco has admitted that he has lost his passion for the music industry.
In an interview with MTV, the rapper revealed that he had suffered health problems as a result of “running so hard doing music”.
Fiasco, whose real name is Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, was nominated for four Grammy Awards earlier this year but was unable to attend the ceremony because of his health.
“When I got to the pivotal moment where you get the accolades for it (music), I found myself in the hospital and the doctor telling me I can't even go,” he said.
“I had a long conversation with the doctor, and he doesn't know me from Adam.
“He just came in and said, 'This is your life. This is how hard you're going. What happens when there's nothing there, and you drop down again?'”
Fiasco has already said that his next album, which will be the follow-up to his 2007 LP, ‘The Cool’, will probably be his last.
Despite admitting that he still loved performing, he said that the “whole process” of the music industry had worn him down.
"I don't want to say I'm 100 percent sure, like, 'Yeah, this is it.' But 85 percent," he added, in reference to his future album plans.
"That 15 percent is the X factor. That could be bills. Like, 'Lupe, you got to pay the bills.' 'Oh, man, I got to put out another album'. "
