The mother of late reggae legend Bob Marley has died.
Cedella Booker passed away in her sleep at her Miami, Florida, home on Tuesday (April 8), she was 81.
Jamaican-born Booker is believed to have died of natural causes, her death comes 27 years after her famous son passed away from a brain tumour in 1981.
Booker wrote two biographies of Marley and was a singer in her own right, releasing two albums throughout her music career.
Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding paid tribute to Booker in a statement: "She was a star in her own right. Her life was one of hardship, struggle and eventual fulfillment, and through it all, she exuded hope, strength and confidence."
She leaves two children and several grandchildren, including Damian and Ziggy Marley.
